Following on from the popular courses last year that introduced the 2016 TSRGD, we have responded to requests for more hands-on examples and interaction on the new regulations, and developed two one-day workshop sessions. These are suitable for those who have attended one of our TSRGD 2016 What’s New courses or have gained an overview of this document through self-study. They are limited to 12 delegates each day to give plenty of opportunity for individual guidance and discussion.

This is the second of these workshops. It will cover Directional and warning signs. It is suitable for anyone involved in the design, specification or manufacture of these types of sign.

Directional signs need to be designed invidually for each location, and there is considerable scope for error, overload, or simply making signs that are larger than necessary. So the focus will be on the correct use of these signs, the choice of destinations, and how to ensure continuity. It will also address authorities’ responses to requests for brown tourist signs and signs to indiviual premises. The complexities of the 29 parts of Schedule 12 of TSRGD 2016 will be unravelled, and the forthcoming revision of Chapter 7 of the Traffic Signs Manual on sign layout and design will also be covered.

The new Chapter 4 of the Traffic Signs Manual will be examined in detail, together with advice on when and how to use warning signs and when not to.
